COLD HAVEN featureds in the international press

Recorded between Portugal and Iceland, the series COLD HAVEN is featured in Drama Quarterly, the digital magazine that covers the creative side of international television drama. In the article in question, Pedro Lopes, General Director of Content for the SPTV group, and Andri Ómarsson, from Icelandic production company Glassriver, reveal the six key locations in this crime thriller, which is set in both countries.

Co-produced by SPi and Glassriver, COLD HAVEN is an eight-part series that explores the experience of immigration. Maria (Maria João Bastos) is a Portuguese woman who emigrates to Vestmannaeyjar, a small and remote island in Iceland, in search of a better life for herself and her teenage daughter, Bela (Catarina Rebelo)... but what she is really looking for is freedom to be who she truly is, away from a past marked by domestic violence and deep secrets. Six months after her arrival, Maria is found lifeless in the middle of the snow. Her violent death will shock the isolated community and expose the secrets everyone is keeping.

The investigation of the crime is placed in the hands of Soffía (Kristín Þóra Haraldsdóttir), an Icelandic detective who, as she immerses herself in the investigation, faces her own crossroads, trying to balance professional duty with the ghosts of her past. During the investigation, secrets about Maria's past emerge, revealing a hidden life that includes an abusive relationship with Alex (Ivo Canelas), from which Maria fled, but at the same time there are clues that point to Hákon (Viktor Benóný Benediktsson), the investigator's son and Bela's boyfriend, which calls into question her impartiality in the investigation.
