CODEX 632 coming soon to Portugal and Brazil

The preview of the series CODEX 632 took place on September 20th at the São Jorge Cinema in Lisbon. The heads of RTP, Globoplay and SPi were present, as well as part of the cast, especially Betty Faria and Paulo Pires. The official premiere of the series is scheduled for October 2nd on RTP1 at 9pm, with a preview on RTP Play at 12am. It will be available on Globoplay from October 19th.

José Fragoso (RTP's Director of Content), Pablo Ghiglione (Globoplay's Head of International Coproductions) and Manuel Claro (SPi's Head of Business and Coproductions), came on stage and were unanimous in their satisfaction with the work done and also with the cooperation between the three companies, which they intend to deepen.

After watching the trailer and the first episode of the series, José Rodrigues dos Santos (author of the homonymous book), Pedro Lopes (author of the original adaptation and screenwriter), Sérgio Graciano (director), as well as the present cast - Betty Faria, Paulo Pires, Leonor Belo, Ana Sofia Martins and Bia Wong - also took to the stage. Although they didn't have the opportunity to be present, Deborah Secco and Alexandre Borges also left a video message showing how happy they were to be part of this, the first co-production between RTP and Globoplay, produced by SPi. Regarding this co-production, Pedro Lopes said that "the relationship we have developed over the years with RTP and Globo goes far beyond the institutional component, which is why I want to thank everyone who has trusted SP Televisão and SPi over the years. The two stations have played an important role in creating culture, but also in contributing to a strong audiovisual industry, in promoting local language and stories, a plural society, giving visibility to a multiplicity of voices that we would otherwise never see on screen. This is a special project, which opens doors for our fiction in Brazil, and which we hope will help internationalize our stories and our talents.". The series is internationally distributed by Bavaria Media.

At the end, a group of students had the opportunity to ask the different people involved in the series a few questions, followed by a cocktail.

CODEX 632 is a series based on the bestseller of the same name by José Rodrigues dos Santos, with an original adaptation by Pedro Lopes, who says it was "a challenge for the writing team for different reasons. Firstly, because it's based on a bestseller, there have been many readers of the book over the years and we wanted there to be a sense of recognition, but at the same time it made sense to bring novelties and surprises into the narrative. Secondly, it had to make sense to audiences on both sides of the Atlantic, which is why we introduced themes such as the construction of history and social memory, in which the discoveries and colonialism are seen differently by different characters.". The screenwriting team also includes Inês Gomes, Alexandre Castro and Sandra Santos.

With six episodes, this series is a thriller with many surprises, in which the characters are not only at the service of the action, but are intended to be a complex portrait of human nature.
